Onboarding

When you first sign up, SchedulingKit guides you through a setup wizard. You can complete steps in order, skip any step, or come back later. Onboarding runs before the main app until you finish or skip it.

Steps

1. Welcome / Business type

Choose how you'll use the app:

  • Scheduling & Meetings — For consultants, coaches, and anyone scheduling meetings. The app uses "event types" and "meetings" terminology.
  • Service Business — For salons, clinics, spas, and similar businesses. The app uses "services" and "appointments" terminology, and enables locations and service catalogs.

You can change this later in Settings.

2. Industry

Select your industry (e.g. Finance, Sales, Consulting, Healthcare, Education, Fitness). This helps tailor default settings and suggestions.

3. Role

Select your role (e.g. Finance, Sales, Customer Success, Recruiting, Marketing, Consulting, Other). Helps configure your first scheduling link.

4. Meeting location

Choose your preferred meeting method:

  • Zoom — If Zoom is configured, you can connect your Zoom account right here. Click the Connect button after selecting Zoom, authorize with your Zoom account, and you'll return to this step with Zoom connected. Bookings will automatically create Zoom meeting links.
  • Microsoft Teams — Same as Zoom — select, connect via OAuth, and meeting links are created automatically.
  • Google Meet — Works through Google Calendar (connected in a later step). A note explains this.
  • Phone call — Meetings by phone.
  • In-person — Meet at a physical location.
  • Custom — Enter a custom location (e.g. a specific address or link).

You can skip connecting and do it later in Settings → Integrations.

5. Profile

Enter your name, job title, phone, bio, and timezone. This information appears on your booking pages.

6. Locations (service business only)

Add one or more physical locations where you provide services (name and address for each).

7. Services / Event types

Create your initial services or event types. In service business mode you add services with name, duration, and price. In scheduling mode you may create an initial event type.

8. Availability

Set your weekly working hours. Choose which days you're available and your start/end times for each day. These hours determine when customers can book with you.

9. Calendar

Connect at least one calendar so SchedulingKit can check your busy times and create events:

  • Google Calendar — Sign in with Google and grant calendar permissions.
  • Microsoft Outlook — Sign in with Microsoft and grant permissions.
  • Apple iCloud Calendar — Enter your Apple ID and app-specific password.

After connecting, select which calendars to use for conflict checking.

10. Complete

Review what you've set up. Click Finish to enter the main app.

Skipping and navigation

  • Skip — Skip any step. Complete it later from Settings, Profile, or the relevant section.
  • Back — Return to the previous step. Progress is saved as you go.

After onboarding

The app redirects you to the Event Types (or Services) page. The onboarding middleware ensures onboarding is complete before accessing other routes — if you haven't finished, you'll be sent back to /onboarding.
